Emulators are cool, most people would agree. But playing an emulator with a keyboard just isn't the same as a controller. The best is playing it with a controller, and what better controller for a SNES emulator then the wireless Wiimote. This is a toutorial on how to play a SNES emulator on a mac with a Wiimote.
Step 1:
For this tutorial you will need to download a few programs. The first is SNES emulator for mac called Snes9X. You will also need the program DarwiinRemote. After downloading and installing these free programs you will be able to continue the tutorial.
Step 2:
The next step is connecting your Wiimote to your computer using DarwiinRemote. The Steps are actually fairly straight forward and presented to you in the bottom white box of the program. You will need a bluetooth connection for you to connect your Wiimote. Make sure that your blue tooth settings in you preference pane are set to discoverable. After sucessfully connecting your Wiimote and playing around with its features you can continue the tutorial.
Step 3:
You will find out if you go to DarwiinRemotes preference pane that there is a key mapping section. You can follow the mapping that I used With these three Pictures or you can create your own. (The Keyboard Layout is from the Configure Keyboard preference pane in SnesX9, it can be found at Config>Configure Keyboard. The other key mapping preference pane is from DarwiinRemote.)
Below is the configurations pictures for the wiimote that assumes you want to play with the wiimote in the horizontal holding position.
The Pictures:

Picture 1
The blue boxed configurations should correlate with the blue box configurations in Picture 2. The Red Box configurations should correlate with the red box configurations of Picture 2. The green box is provided to show you that you can save multiple key mappings with the add button. This will be useful if you want to use the Wiimote for other things.
Picture 2:

Look at picture ones configurations and match.

Picture 3 Will explain the logic behind the blue boxes configurations.
If you have successfully mapped your controls this is what the Wiimote button layout for SnesX9 should be like.
(when holding sideways)
D pad up = up
D pad down = down
D pad left = left
D pad right = right
Home button = return (aka start on SNES controller)
Button 1 = a button (on SNES controller)
Button 2 = b button (on SNES controller)
Button + = Left trigger (on SNES controller)
Button - = Right trigger (on SNES controller
Button A = X button (on SNES controller)
Button B = Y button (on SNES controller)
Here is a video of my own successful endavor in controlling a SNES emulator with a Wiimote.
